When to use eDiscovery services

Sometimes, lawyers are unsure as to whether their matter might benefit from the application of an eDiscovery workflow or process. We've gathered several questions that can help determine if eDiscovery could add value. Consider:

• Do I need to manage and organise electronic documents or convert paper documents to electronic versions to organise and review for a purpose?

• Do I need to store my client’s documents in a secure environment?

• Do I have more than 500 documents? For example, emails plus attachments

• Do I need to organise my documents into various issues or categories?

• Do I have parties outside my organisation who also need to review the documents? e.g. Client, Counsel, Experts

• Do I know, or are other parties likely using a solution to electronically manage their document set?

• Do I need to remove duplicates from this document set?

• Do I need to chronologically sort these documents?

• Do I need to run keyword searches across the content of these documents, including non-searchable scanned documents?

• Do I need to redact documents for privilege or confidentiality?

• Do I need to produce this document set or a sub-set of this document set to another party?

• Do I need to review these documents in the most efficient way possible for my client?
